Liftr Look Ahead: January 2020 Earnings Reports - AMD
AMD, Intel, and Xilinx report earnings early in the quarterly reporting cycle, while NVIDIA will report their earnings in mid-February. All the products of these vendors are currently tracked by Liftr Insight’s Liftr Cloud Components Tracker.

New AMD EPYC Deployments from AWS and More
AWS announced two new EC2 instances powered by AMD EPYC second-generation processors; however, Liftr Insights has not yet seen deployments of AWS’s announced C5a and C5ad instance type families.
AMD also reported cloud build-outs at Google, Oracle, and Tencent, but with no detail. Google has announced that its new E2-series instance type families will be based on AMD EPYC, presumably second-generation, but Liftr Insights has also not seen these instance types in deployment yet.
The company stated that the market should expect new GPU data center products in the second half of 2020. AMD also said it has been working with large cloud providers to optimize machine learning frameworks for its GPUs. They also said they are working on remote direct memory access (RDMA) architectures for both consumer and data center GPUs, claiming there are “better together” opportunities for combining its processor and GPU intellectual property.
We agree on the promise and importance of a processor-plus-accelerator “better together” story for AMD.
